Norris Yim, A Self-taught Painter

Hong Kong

Studied & Graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University - School of Design (2014). His works mainly focus on abstract paintings, with his "Nameless" series of abstract portraits being the most renowned. In this series, he explores the subtle relationship between shape, color, and emotion, striving to express his inner feelings through visual language. He demonstrates a profound understanding of form, color, and materials.

His creative process is full of exploration and reflection. He constantly experiments with different approaches, not limiting himself to representational or abstract creation. He places great emphasis on the use of materials and the exploration of texture. He employs a variety of media, such as paint, thickening agents, sand, and stones, allowing the interaction between materials and forms to enhance the tension and expressive power of his works, while also allowing the inherent characteristics of the materials to resonate with the artwork.

At the same time, he often tries new techniques and creative methods, breaking through the boundaries of traditional art and displaying an infinite imagination for art. These works are not only a visual expression but also an extension of emotion, allowing viewers to experience an inner resonance while appreciating them.

In 2020, He was invited by a Norwegian gallery (Fineart Oslo) to participate in a long-term exhibition and collaboration. The gallery provided him with a valuable opportunity to showcase his works on the international stage, and his art gained widespread recognition in the art world. In 2023, he held his first solo exhibition - TRiCERA Art in Tokyo, where presented his latest abstract paintings, each piece in the exhibition reflected his unique perspectives and insights on abstraction, attracting the attention of many art enthusiasts and critics.

He often tries new techniques and creative methods, breaking through the boundaries of traditional art and displaying an infinite imagination for art, also works with various media, including Album Covers, Rug, Silk Scarf, Clothing Design and Local Coffee Brand.

Looking ahead, he plans to constantly pursue innovation, challenge traditional creative approaches, and explore more possibilities. He believes that art is infinite, and every creative process is a new adventure. He looks forward to bringing more surprises and inspirations to the audience through his future works.
